Getting Started

Before you begin be sure to have the Windows 95/98 CDROM or the installation diskettes for your system.

Local Access Number

You have been given a Local Access Number based upon the main telephone number on your account. Many other local access numbers are available depending on where you are calling from. If you have any questions, or if you believe that the Local Access Number provided is not included in your local calling area, call us. You will incur additional telephone charges if the number you are dialing is not local to your area.

Getting Connected

Locate your newly created Dial-up icon.

By double clicking your Dial-up icon, the computer should dial out over your telephone line and make the connection to Full Service Network’s Internet Dial-up Service.

The first time your dialer runs it will need to be set up with your User ID and Password. See Figure 3.

Your user ID and password can be found on your welcome sheet. Select "Save Password"

Your Local Access Number should already appear in the Phone number field. If it does not, you should add it.

When finished, click Connect. The dialer will then dial your modem, (you may or may not hear your modem dialing the tones) and send your ID and Password along to the system. There will be some "handshaking" going on as our system will verify your ID and Password. Once this is complete, you are now connected to Full Service Network’s Internet Dial-up Service. At this point, you can launch your browser and begin surfing the internet!

Browser Setup

The most important first time setup information in the browser will be your Home page. This is the page the browser displays on your screen as you start. This can be changed by launching your browser and editing the appropriate boxes.

Because new accounts experience the most set up problems we recommend you set your Home page to my.fsnnet.net. Then, your browser starts at our Home page where we offer various sites and useful information for assistance as well as means to contact us.

Netscape Navigator/Communicator

To edit Netscape’s Home page:

Launch Netscape. Then, click Edit – Preferences – Navigator. Here you will find "Navigator starts with" and "Home page" boxes. By selecting "Home page" you can define Location where Netscape will start. This is where my.fsnnet.net is entered. See Figure 4.
