Configuring E-Mail for Windows 95/98


Configuring Eudora Light

  • Click Start-Programs-Eudora Light
  • To make Eudora Light your default mail client, click "Yes". If not sure, click "No" 
  • In the POP Account text box, enter your full email address. Ex:email ID@fsnnet.net
  • In the Real Name text box, enter your actual name
  • Under Category, select Hosts
  • In the SMTP text box, enter 192.168.1.2

Configuring Eudora Pro Edition
  • Click Start-Programs-Eudora Pro
  • Click Tools, then Options
  • Click Getting Started
  • In the Real Name text box, enter your actual name 
  • In the Return Address text box, enter your full email address. Ex:email ID@fsnnet.net 
  • In the Mail Server (Incoming) text box, enter 192.168.1.2
  • In the Login Name text box, enter your email ID

Configuring Netscape Messenger
  • Click Start-Netscape Communicator-Netscape Navigator
  • Click Edit, then Preferences
  • Choose Mail & Groups, then click Identity
  • In the Full Name text box, enter your actual name
  • In the E-mail Address text box, enter your email address. Ex: email ID@fsnnet.net
  • Next click the Mail Server link
  • In the Mail Server Username text box, enter your email ID
  • In the Incoming Mail Server text box, enter 192.168.1.2 
  • In the Outgoing Mail [SMTP] Server text box, enter 192.168.1.2 
  • Select POP3 (messages and folders are kept locally, on the hard disk)

Configuring Microsoft Outlook 97
  • Select Tools, then Services 
  • If Internet Mail appears in the list of services: 
    • Highlight Internet Mail 
    • Click Properties 
    • Skip to step 5 
  • If Internet Mail does not appear 
    • Click the Add button 
    • In the Add Service to Profile window, highlight Internet Mail 
    • Click OK 
    • Highlight Internet Mail 
    • Click Properties 
  • In the Internet Mail window, select General
  • Enter your full name and email address under Personal Information 
  • For Internet Mail Server, enter 192.168.1.2 
  • For Account Name, enter your email ID 
  • For Password, enter your email password which is the same as your dial-up password
  • Select Connection
  • Under Connecting to Internet Mail, choose Connect Manually 
  • For Dial Using The Following Connection, select the dialer connection previously created
  • Click OK
  • If you have added the Internet Mail service, you will be prompted to restart Outlook. Click OK

Configuring Microsoft Outlook 98
  • Open Outlook 98 
  • Select Tools, then Accounts 
  • Click Add, then Mail
  • In the Display Name box, enter your actual name
  • Click Next 
  • In the E-mail address box, enter your email address. Ex: email ID@fsnnet.net 
  • Click Next 
  • From the drop-down list, select POP3
  • In the Incoming Mail (POP or IMAP) Server box, enter 192.168.1.2 
  • In the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server box, enter 192.168.1.2
  • Click Next
  • Select Log On Using: POP Account Name, Password 
    • In the POP Account Name box, enter your email ID 
    • In the Password box, enter your email password
  • Click Next
  • In the Internet Mail Account Name box, enter 192.168.1.2
  • Click Next 
  • Select the manual connection method
  • Click Next
  • Click Finish to save settings

Configuring Microsoft Internet Mail
  • Click Start-Programs-Internet Mail
  • Click Mail, then Options
  • Click Server 
  • In the Name text box, enter your actual name
  • In the E-mail Address text box, enter your email address. Ex: email ID@fsnnet.net
  • In the Incoming Mail (POP3) text box, enter 192.168.1.2 
  • In the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) text box, enter 192.168.1.2 
  • Under Logon settings, highlight Logon Using
  • In the Account Name text box, enter your email ID
  • In the Password text box, enter your email password
  • Click OK

Configuring Microsoft Outlook Express 5-6
  • Click Start-Programs-Outlook Express
  • Click Tools - Accounts
  • Click Mail Tab and either Add or Properties
  • In the Display Name text box, enter your actual name
  • In the E-mail Address text box, enter your email address. Ex: email ID@fsnnet.net
  • In the Incoming Mail (POP3) text box, enter 192.168.1.2 
  • In the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) text box, enter 192.168.1.2 
  • Under Logon settings, highlight Logon Using
  • In the Account Name text box, enter your email ID
  • In the Password text box, enter your email password
  • Click OK
